I really enjoyed Yuletide this year, although I wailed a lot to [personal profile] silly_cleo and [personal profile] blindmadness about how I was never going to manage to finish my fic. I have this woe every year, so one would think that I would be familiar with it by now. I felt incredibly lucky though because my assignment was actually one of the letters I had bookmarked anyway in an flurry of optimism about my time to write treats, so it was a letter I already loved and for which I was excited about writing.

We matched on Jurassic World, which I had offered on a whim ("Oooh I could write about DINOSAURUSES!!!") and because the movies are the movie series of my goddamn heart. I loved their letter in part because they seemed to be interested in all the same things I love thinking about with regard to the films.

So I wrote 8k of aftermath fic and found a new fandom to adore:
back through the gates of hell (8027 words) by antediluvian

Jurassic World (2015)

“I like stupid plans that might work,” Owen said.

After the incident at Jurassic World, Masrani Corp want to clean up the park. Owen Grady has other ideas.

As my gift, I received an absolutely precious Sorcerer to the Crown fic about Prunella's life after the book. It is a sad truth that whenever I love a character I want to see assassination attempts against them, so that they can foil them and continue to be the gem of my heart.

Briefly Dangerous (1833 words) by impertinence
Chapters: 1/1
Sorcerer to the Crown - Zen Cho
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Zacharias Wythe/Prunella Gentleman
Characters: Prunella Gentleman, Zacharias Wythe

Adventures in keeping power in a country that would rather you stepped down, or: Prunella still has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Impertinence wrote a wonderful voice for Prunella and there were some brilliant bits of comic dialogue which felt very in keeping with the book:

"Well, ma'am," it said, "technically it's not for your ears at all, ma'am, on account of technically I'm here to kill you."

"They tried this one already," Prunella said. "A week before my wedding, in fact."

Overall a lovely Yuletide. I've still got some letters bookmarked for treats and I've been very much enjoying reading my way through the collection. I'm hoping to make a recs post in the next couple of weeks.
