I read a total of 80 books in 2017, 33 of which were re-reads. I think when I keep this list for 2018 I will also jot down a few sentences to cover what I thought of the book, because I don't remember most of the ones from earlier in the year unless I profoundly hated or profoundly loved them.

The real gift of the year was reading Sharon Shinn's Elemental Blessings series, which [personal profile] scordatura and [personal profile] crepesculum introduced to me. I read these while in Hanoi visiting my bff, SD, and they were an absolute delight - I loved the worldbuilding, I loved the women, I was less sold on most of the romances but that's fine because worldbuilding and women are the things I care about most.

I began reading Kate Quinn's The Alice Network but I haven't finished it yet, so it will be the first book of 2018.
