Hi, Mystery Yuletide 2011 Writer! If you drew me, let me just say first of all that I am so excited about whatever you decide to write me. <3 I love receiving gifts, and there's no such thing as a bad one.

There are some particular things I love in fic. I like good dialogue, every day situations, flawed relationships which still work, power dynamics, strong women who are treated as strong, friendly violence. I like stories which are a combination of character study and activity and stories which are just one of these things. I like humour but generally dislike humour!fic.

The only things I am not a fan of are: rape, hurt/comfort, and the traditional seme/uke construction.

1. The Demon's Lexicon
Oh, I do love this series. I love the ladies of it and have a secret or not-so-secret desire to see much more of Lydie. I like Jamie badgering people into joining him at the end of the last book. I love Mae and Nick. I love Sin and her loyalty to her family. I would love to see a post!series Mae/Nick fic (I don't necessarily mean sexytimes-- I really like everyday!fic, because I like the hotness and the humour of their interactions and I like that Mae is so resistant to losing herself), or something with Lydie after the series, or something with Sin and Mae post!series. Jamie interacting with everyone and anyone also pushes my happy buttons. In general, I am not that interested in any of the slash pairings that fandom has come up with and incest downright squicks me. Mae/Sin is possibly the only non-canon pairing I have any gleamings for, and I prefer subtext to anything actually stated with regards to that.

I like the way Mae and Nick interact with each other in terms of the witty dialogue, Mae's refusal to let Nick overwhelm her, and the way Nick responds to her. In one of her extra little stories, SRB has Jamie muse that Nick seems to have a crush on Mae because she's "bossier than God" and I absolutely love that. I love it in the third book when Mae is walking through the market and Nick is behind her like a "dark sentinel" and busily gilding her with lights. I like the fact that they're not schmoopy and that there's an interesting power dynamic there to be played with.

For Mae and Sin, I love the way they seem to click from the get go, that they find each other interesting, that there is a faint edge of subtextual flirtation there a la Buffy and Faith if you're reading it that way. I like the things they have in common-- their independence, their determination, their love for their siblings-- and I like the things that make them different from each other-- Mae's value of honesty, Sin's ability to spin stories out of different facets of herself. I like the fact that they're never really at each other's throats, that they admire each other.

2. Howl's Moving Castle
I love Calcifer, I love Howl, I love Sophie, I love Howl/Sophie. I would read anything at all for this and lap it up with a spoon. DWJ always delights me because of the way she combines the extraordinary with the ordinary.

I am totally happy with book or movie canon being used here or being woven together in some elaborate tapestry. I would also be happy with focus on any combination of characters. You can literally do no wrong with this one as long as it's not an orgiastic PWP. My love for this world is gigantic and all-consuming, so pick anything about it which interests you and I'm sure that I will be equally fascinated.

3. The Wolves of Mercy Fall
I found Isabel Culpeper absolutely enchanting and I wish that I could've seen more of Isabel and Cole. I would be interested in anything post!series with these two or even during the series. I'd like to see what happens next though, definitely.

An Isabel-being-bitten story would be fantastic. My feelings about that are all good. Part of what I like about Isabel and Cole is extremely shallow-- I love that they are both ludicrously hot, that they KNOW they're ludicrously hot and the text TREATS them as ludicrously hot. I like that they're both quite defensive and nowhere near as willing to open up to each other as Grace and Sam are. I find it interesting that they're both damaged, although I confess that in that respect I find Isabel much much MUCH more interesting than Cole. I like the way that they're attracted to each other. I like the fact they're both very sharp and good at using words as weapons. Even if you decide not to have Isabel-being-bitten/transformed, I would love to see wolf stuff being brought in. I'm also interested to see the paths their lives take as they get older-- like Isabel going to university, etc, if she does go to university, that sort of thing.

4. Misfits
I would generally prefer genfic or something which is primarily genfic in this series, unless it is with Simon/Alisha. By genfic, I just mean fic where the relationship isn't the primary focus, but I'm totally happy for relationships to still be mentioned in whatever volume you need for the story. I'm up-to-date with the current season, so I'm also very keen on Kelly/Seth.

I love the way Nathan and Kelly interact with each other and with everyone else. I like the humour in the series. Kelly is probably my hands-down favourite character throughout the series. I like her honesty and the fact that she can headbutt Hitler in the face. I also feel like she's kind of the heart of the group-- I mean that in the metaphorical sense of her being the one with the most sensitivity/compassion. I think she and Simon are similar in the way that they pay more attention to things like feeeeeelings.

I am totally happy with original characters, but I would like it if the canon characters still featured in some way.

If you are interested in looking at any of my own fic, I have very old stuff up at FF.Net and any new stuff goes up at my AO3 account.
