New job continues to be lovely. My brain is starting to find space and time to fit stuff in around it again, which is nice - I started writing fic on the train, hunched over my laptop, screen tilted at an obscene angle so that even I could barely read it. I hate screen-peerers.

I'm trying to motivate myself to watch the new season of Teen Wolf but just... can't quite manage it. I'm super excited for Arden Cho having more screentime but still feeling very meh about Allison's death. I'm leery of it becoming a boys' club the way Supernatural did (well, arguably SPN always was boys' club so...). I feel like the stuff that interests me and the stuff that interests Jeff Bridges might be diverging quite a lot...

In any case, not watching the new season currently serves a purpose as I'm writing fic which takes place at the end of the last one.

From this season I would like a lot more Lydia and Kira screentime. Malia too. I would like all of them to receive, at some point, their own independent plot lines as Stiles did with the nogitsune. With Lydia especially I'm starting to feel as though she's a support character for Stiles and with both Lydia and Kira I feel like the banshee and kitsune things have so much interesting potential and I'm not sure if the show is going to go anywhere with it.

(I basically never trust shows to have sufficient interest in their female characters and plot lines, thanks to SPN, Vampire Diaries, etc etc)

They are giving Malia, Lydia and Kira a LOT of screentime so far this season? So that's positive!

Have you seen all the tumblr rargh over Kavinsky and Maggie Stiefvater?

I'm digging around to find the posts that set it off. I don't really understand Tumblr or how it works. OKAY!

As I understand it, Maggie made this post. A section of TRC fandom got very, very, very upset at "store brand" being a perceived criticism of Kavinsky. Then later Maggie made this post and people started getting REEAAAALLY antsy about it.

I'm so, so, so new to Tumblr, so I'm having trouble following stuff. But it seems as though part of TRC fandom is very keen on Kavinsky!salvation and that part has taken Maggie's comments as a deep personal insult.

I mean, Kavinsky is a great character and I am ALL OVER how dirty bad wrong Ronan/Kavinsky is but...

Yeah, I kind of feel that going "but he has a sweet side!" is missing the point of Kavinsky a bit. He's a fantastic, creepy, unsettling, interesting, rather terrifying character.

Also oh god yes to Ronan/Kavinsky. But "sweet woobies!" is definitely not what I'm thinking of when I think of them. Actually, your fic is pretty much spot on.

But Maggie can definitely rub people up the wrong way sometimes.

I think you're right.

I feel lucky in that I like a lot of what she has to say. But her attitude towards NaNoWriMo pissed me off quite a lot.

But good god i do love her writing, Scorpio Races onwards.

Here. I'm not even a huge proponent for NaNoWriMo but I thought this was kind of like hanging round at the start of a marathon yelling about how marathons suck and daily fitness is way better than a social long run where your form will get poor because you're tired.
